Zombie Are Our Friends!
Don’t panic! Don’t be afraid! If you see Zombies creeping and crawling, and maybe even dancing through Rio Grande, Ohio this coming fall, please understand this horde of “Walking Dead” are here to help. And, we’re hopeful that you’ll want to “plague” us with your support as well.
On Thursday, October 20, 2016, beginning around 5:30 PM on the University of Rio Grande & Rio Grande Community College Main Campus, the Friends of the Davis Library is sponsoring a Zombie-Thon 5K Walk as a special seasonal community wellness treat. All participants are encouraged to get into the spirit of the occasion by donning make-up and costumes. The entry fee is only $5 along with a donation of a nonperishable food item in support of the Rio Helping Hands Food Pantry.
Get Your Zombie On & Join Your Friends @ Davis Library!
At this is a fun walk everyone gets the thrill of being a winner by showing up and having a good time. A raffle drawing and costume contest will be offered at the Post-Apocalypse Party that follows the walk-a-thon. Enjoy music, food, and a family-friendly atmosphere as Zombies dance the night away.
This event will supply the Rio Helping Hands Food Pantry with nonperishable food items for local families and help the Friends group's efforts to bring "new life" to the Davis Library. The Friends of the Davis Library hopes to create awareness in our community on a variety of health-related issues that are of vital interest to those living and learning in the Ohio Appalachian Region.
One of the goals of the Zombie-Thon 5K Walk experience is to alleviate the stress caused by food insecurity, which often results in poor classroom performance. Strike a blow against hunger and have fun supporting this worthwhile cause.
